Former WWE manager Jim Cornette recently shared his thoughts on how Chad Gable was portrayed during Vince McMahon’s leadership.
Despite a promising start in WWE as part of the American Alpha, Gable encountered difficulties gaining traction. Despite being handed gimmicks like Shorty G, he managed to make them work. However, under Triple H’s regime, the 38-year-old wrestler is currently showcasing some of his best performances.
Gable has engaged in remarkable matches with talents like Gunther and Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship.
During a recent episode of his Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru podcast, Cornette delved into Gable’s recent portrayal. He noted that Gable is finally receiving the push he deserves under the current creative team.
Cornette observed that the team aims to highlight Gable’s background as a former Olympian and a credible athlete. Speculating on the reasons for Gable’s previous gimmicks, Cornette suggested that it might have been Vince McMahon’s influence.
“They’re pushing Gable strongly again as a former Olympian instead of Shoosh Boy. I’m pretty sure this Alpha Academy will either go away or undergo a massive overhaul. Can we assume that it was just Vince (McMahon) all along that was preventing us from seeing Gable as a talent and he was being presented as a joke? It has to be,” Jim Cornette remarked.
As for Gable’s recent actions on WWE RAW, where he addressed the WWE Universe and confronted Sami Zayn, it’s uncertain how this storyline will evolve.
Nonetheless, Gable’s renewed focus on his career trajectory is garnering attention, offering fans hope for his future in WWE.
