WWE made a big announcement today about the Slammy Awards, a ceremony that’s returning after nearly ten years and is set to happen during WrestleMania weekend.
Hosting duties for the event will be shared by Cathy Kelley and Big E. You can catch the action on Sunday, April 7th, as it streams live across WWE’s social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
Once upon a time, the Slammys were a huge deal in the wrestling world. Cody Rhodes and other stars have already started buzzing about it. Rhodes even shared a picture on Twitter, hinting he’s eyeing a trophy.

The Slammy Awards have a long history, dating back to 1986. They popped up again in ’87, took a break until ’94, and then became an annual thing until ’97. They resurfaced in 2008 and continued until 2015 when they were last on TV.
Last seen in 2020, the awards moved to social media platforms. Now, they’re making a comeback for WrestleMania.
The Slammys cover a bunch of categories, from OMG Moment of the Year to the WWE Universe’s picks for the best Tag Team and Wrestlers of the Year.
Big names have bagged these awards in the past. Drew McIntyre took home the Superstar of the Year title in 2020. Remember AJ Lee winning Diva of the Year? Nikki Bella was the last on-screen winner back in 2015.
Cody Rhodes, who’s been a major player since his return at WrestleMania 38, is in the running for Superstar of the Year. Will he nab the title as he heads into the main event of WrestleMania 40?
It’s a big question on everyone’s mind. Will Cody Rhodes clinch the Superstar of the Year title?
