Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks, and Megan Thee Stallion were reportedly set to collaborate as part of a SummerSlam Premium Live Event a few years ago, according to revelations made by former WWE Superstar Mojo Rawley during a recent podcast episode.
Speculation about Mone’s return to WWE circulated for some time before she eventually made the move to AEW. The possibility of her working with Megan Thee Stallion at a past edition of SummerSlam had fans intrigued.
During an appearance on the Power Alphas Podcast with Mandy Rose and Tino Sabbatelli, Mojo Rawley shared a story about attending the Crunchyroll Anime Awards with Mone, where they encountered Megan Thee Stallion.
Rawley recounted the event, mentioning Mone’s involvement with Crunchyroll and the missed opportunity for a SummerSlam collaboration between Mone and Megan Thee Stallion.
Rawley shared,
“Megan Thee Stallion was there, she was sitting at the table next to us. I didn’t realize, but I guess she was going to do something with Mercedes at WWE SummerSlam in years previous, and it just never materialized and fell through for one reason or another.”
While the specifics of the incident, including the year and edition of SummerSlam, were not recalled by Mojo, the potential collaboration between Mone and Megan Thee Stallion offers a glimpse into what could have been an exciting crossover moment for both WWE and music fans.
Following her departure from WWE in May 2022, Mone, along with Naomi, explored opportunities outside the company.
While Naomi returned to WWE, Mone’s debut in AEW at the Dynamite: Big Business event signifies a new chapter in her career, promising to elevate the women’s division in the Jacksonville-based promotion in the coming months.
