After its open beta was temporarily halted last summer, MultiVersus, the platform fighter starring Bugs Bunny, Harley Quinn, and other familiar faces from Warner Bros. and DC Comics, is set to return. Warner Bros. and Player First Games have announced that the game will launch in full on May 28.
Player First released a new development update video today, hosted by the studio’s game director and co-founder Tony Huyhn, which confirmed the release date. The video also unveiled concept art for new stages, enhanced visuals, improved performance due to a move to Unreal Engine 5, and mentioned “new personalities,” new netcode, and a new PvE mode, although no specifics were confirmed.
MultiVersus was originally announced in November 2021, with the first open beta session beginning in July 2022. It became the most successful WB game and the most successful fighting game on Steam, reaching 10 million players in August 2022 and 20 million the following month.
The beta continued for multiple seasons, with several new characters, stages, and customization options added through both free and paid updates, until June 2023 when Player First announced the beta would be shut down to “prepare for full launch in early 2024.”
MultiVersus returns on May 28 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
