WWE icon Kevin Nash has shared his insights on how AEW should strategize the booking of Will Ospreay moving forward.
During a recent installment of “Kliq This,” Nash advocated for Ospreay to capture the AEW World Championship later this year, emphasizing the need to position him as the face of AEW.
“Ospreay is their standout talent. If Wembley is the venue for the September show, Ospreay should be crowned there, making him the centerpiece of your promotion because he’s ‘the guy,'” Nash asserted.
While Nash commended Ospreay for his in-ring prowess and star quality, he critiqued the wrestler’s physique, suggesting that “The Aerial Assassin” should focus on improving it.
Drawing a comparison to WWE’s AJ Styles, Nash highlighted the disparity in physique between Styles and Ospreay.
“I caught a bit of Smackdown and saw AJ, and it struck me that Ospreay needs to get into better shape… everyone looks like indie guys because nobody seems to prioritize physical conditioning. He’s just turned 30, so, come on,” Nash remarked.
Additionally, Nash proposed that Ospreay would benefit from facing WWE behemoth Brock Lesnar in the ring, believing that such a matchup would enhance Ospreay’s ability to sell.
“He’s exciting to watch, and he’d be fantastic in a bout against someone like Lesnar because he needs a formidable opponent to rough him up…
you can’t sell an uppercut, then take a flat back and immediately respond with another uppercut and transition into a move; consistency in selling is crucial,” Nash explained.
Ospreay recently emerged victorious against Bryan Danielson at “AEW Dynasty,” where Danielson appeared to sustain an injury, prompting Ospreay to retire one of his signature maneuvers.
