The Kabuki Warriors, consisting of Asuka and Kairi Sane, showcased their dominance by successfully defending their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against “WWE NXT” Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley on the thrilling “NXT’s” Roadblock special aired on Tuesday.
However, a surprising turn of events unfolded on the preceding night’s “WWE Raw,” where it was revealed that the formidable duo would face the challenge of Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark in the following week’s title defense.
As per insights from a Fightful Select report, while “NXT” officials were delighted to feature Asuka and Kairi Sane on their show, there seemed to be some dissatisfaction with the decision to schedule their title defense for “Raw” the subsequent week.
Making their presence felt on Monday’s episode of “Raw,” Damage CTRL tactically observed Baszler and Stark during their match.
Following a victorious showdown against former tag team champions Kayden Carter and Katana Chance, Dakota Kai extended her congratulations to the duo and proposed a title shot, promptly accepted by Baszler.
Meanwhile, on “NXT,” Valkyria and Paxley faced an unexpected assault post-match by Roxanne Perez, resulting in Valkyria’s distressing injury.
Perez ruthlessly targeted Valkyria’s shoulder, leaving her incapacitated and requiring medical attention, eventually leading to her being taken away in an ambulance after being stretchered out of the ring.
Since seizing the Women’s Tag Team Championships from Chance and Carter on January 26’s episode of “Raw,” Asuka and Sane have maintained an impressive reign.
Their latest defense at Elimination Chamber saw them triumph against Indi Hartwell and Candice LaRae during the pre-show, further solidifying their standing as dominant champions.
