Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently shed light on his inclination towards Roman Reigns over Cody Rhodes in the highly anticipated WrestleMania main event.
The clash of titans is poised to take place at WrestleMania XL, where Reigns, boasting an impressive championship reign spanning 1,311+ days, will defend his title against The American Nightmare, who enters with significant momentum following consecutive Royal Rumble victories.
During a discussion on this week’s Legion of RAW, Russo delved into the pivotal role The Rock and TKO would play in determining the outcome of the match.
Russo expressed his belief that, were he in The Rock’s position, he would advocate for Reigns to retain the championship.
“It really depends on how The Rock sees and views Cody Rhodes. I’m sorry, if I’m the Rock and I’m on that Board and I have say so, to me, Roman is much better a champion of that company than Cody Rhodes,”
Russo opined.
Russo elaborated on his stance, asserting that Reigns’ historic championship reign provided a more compelling storyline for casual fans compared to Rhodes’ narrative of family legacy and personal triumph.
“Cody Rhodes is a guy that was chosen by the marks. He was going to be their guy. I don’t believe casual fans care about Cody or are fans of Cody Rhodes. I think Reigns with that streak supercedes Cody finishing a stupid story. That’s just me bro, that’s the way I feel.” [From 13:08 onwards]
In recent weeks, The Bloodline has demonstrated their dominance by targeting Seth Rollins and Cody, asserting their authority as they approach WrestleMania.
With the WrestleMania main event drawing near, the uncertainty surrounding the eventual victor continues to intensify, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the showdown at The Show of Shows.
