Renowned wrestling journalist Bill Apter has stirred up speculation surrounding WWE’s top storyline for WrestleMania XL, suggesting that two significant twists could alter the course of events.
Scheduled for April 6, the highly anticipated tag team match between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins against The Rock and Roman Reigns sets the stage for a dramatic showdown.
Following this bout, Rhodes is slated to challenge Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship the next day.
During a recent appearance on Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Time Machine alongside host Mac Davis and wrestling luminary Teddy Long, Apter pondered the implications of Rollins’ failure to intervene when The Rock attacked Rhodes on RAW.
He hinted at potential discord between the two allies:
“At the end of it, when it went off TV, here’s the question going toward WrestleMania,”
Apter mused.
“Seth Rollins was in that building. Why didn’t he come out and rescue Cody? That leaves a question in my mind for Cody and Seth Rollins tag-teaming.”
Amidst the intrigue surrounding the WrestleMania buildup, Apter raised the prospect of a seismic shift in the narrative, envisioning a scenario where The Rock replaces Reigns in the championship clash:
“What happens if there’s a twist where Roman, night two, isn’t there to defend his title. He gets injured in the tag team match, not badly, but enough not to defend the title, and they put The Rock in against Cody, and Cody beats him and now we go to SummerSlam with Cody against Roman Reigns for the title.”
As SummerSlam 2024 looms on the horizon, the stakes are higher than ever. Reigns must maintain his championship reign until September 13 to surpass Hulk Hogan’s monumental 1,474-day record.
The anticipation surrounding WrestleMania XL is palpable, with fans eagerly awaiting the unfolding of these potential twists. What outcome do you hope to see at WrestleMania? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
