Recently, a former WWE Superstar shed light on Vince McMahon’s profound interest in him, leading to a significant transformation in his character.
Returning to WWE TV as a babyface post-WrestleMania 38 in 2022, Elias emerged with a fresh persona, now identified as Ezekiel, showcasing a clean-shaven appearance.
This marked the inception of a rivalry with Kevin Owens, setting the stage for a compelling narrative. Despite his release from WWE the previous year, Elias was back in the spotlight.
During a candid Q&A session with For The Love Of Wrestling, the ex-Elias delved into the genesis of the Ezekiel persona, attributing its creation to Vince McMahon himself.
“Yeah, that was a complete Vince McMahon idea. What had happened was, there was a period of time here where ‘The Boss’ really got into Elias and he said, ‘I want to make you the next guy.’ So he took the guitar away for a little while, and we said alright, we’re coming back, we’re gonna get a new look, new gear. As I did that, he was like, ‘Hey, let’s just go the whole way with it. Let’s clean up the hair, let’s shave the beard. We’ll give a whole new presentation.’ When I did that, it was like, oh, this is a whole different person. So you’re gonna be a different lesson.”
Vince McMahon then revealed the idea of Ezekiel to Elias
Elias elaborated that Vince enthusiastically pitched the Ezekiel character to him, reflecting McMahon’s investment in the concept. Elias expressed his excitement at McMahon’s enthusiasm, portraying Ezekiel as a promising venture.
Despite its potential, the Ezekiel persona endured a brief lifespan, unable to fully manifest its envisioned trajectory.
Currently, the erstwhile Elias graces the independent scene as Elijah, captivating audiences with his charisma and talent. His unexpected departure from WWE left fans pondering his future endeavors.
As anticipation mounts for his next chapter, followers eagerly await Elijah’s next move, poised to witness his continued evolution in the months ahead.
