The anticipation surrounding Uncle Howdy’s rumored return intensified on this week’s SmackDown as WWE endeavors to honor Bray Wyatt’s legacy on television. While acknowledging WWE’s intentions, legendary manager Dutch Mantell cautioned against potential pitfalls.
Before his tragic passing, Bray Wyatt introduced the enigmatic Uncle Howdy character to the WWE Universe. Recent revelations confirmed that Bray’s brother, Bo Dallas, had been portraying Uncle Howdy all along.
In the past weeks, WWE has been dropping hints about Uncle Howdy’s comeback, suggesting that Bo Dallas may not be acting alone. Mantell agreed that Dallas would require significant support if WWE aimed to revitalize one of Bray Wyatt’s storylines.
Highlighting the complexity of paying tribute to Wyatt, Mantell stressed the importance of careful handling of the angle to avoid any adverse outcomes.
“Well, he [Bo Dallas] needs help; he needs a lot of it. And this could backfire in their faces big time. It has to be done, I’m sure in a certain way, but I don’t have an idea for it all. I know they are looking to pay homage to Bray, but, that might be a bigger task than they think. So, we’ll see what they do; I’l judge it only at the end.” [From 40:20 onwards]
During his initial tenure, Uncle Howdy never competed in a single match.
If Bo Dallas returns with the masked persona, Triple H and WWE will undoubtedly strive for creative excellence to add another unforgettable chapter to Bray’s WWE legacy.
