Jacob Brennan, spouse, and coach of UFC bantamweight fighter Hailey Cowan, has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a minor girl. The incident allegedly occurred between 2013 and 2015 when the victim was as young as 13 years old.
Brennan was booked into the McLennan County Jail on May 19 following allegations from a woman who claimed inappropriate “touching” by her coach. Before his arrest, screenshots of conversations between Brennan and the girl surfaced on an Instagram page, indicating an intimate relationship. Investigators discovered numerous messages exchanged between the two, some of which revealed expressions of love and discussions about kissing from Brennan’s side.
The affidavit also revealed that several members of the Blitz Sport MMA gym in Robinson, Texas, where Brennan was associated, became aware of the situation. However, Brennan allegedly provided conflicting accounts and appeared to be dishonest regarding the allegations.
Brennan was booked under the charge of “Indecency with a Child-Sexual Contact-2F” according to the official McLennan County mugshots Facebook page. He is currently detained on a $75,000 bond, as indicated by online jail records.
In Texas, indecency with a child by contact involves specific forms of sexual molestation of a child under 17 years old. This offense is classified as a second-degree felony, carrying significant penalties. Upon conviction, individuals found guilty may face imprisonment ranging from two to 20 years, fines of up to $10,000, or both.
The situation has unfolded amidst Cowan’s scheduled fight against Tamires Vidal at UFC Vegas 92, where Brennan was set to corner her. However, Cowan had to withdraw from the event due to a severe leg fracture, which she revealed last Friday. The allegations against Brennan cast a shadow over the UFC fighter’s personal and professional life, adding layers of complexity to an already challenging situation.
