AEW President Tony Khan remains vocal following a dramatic altercation in which he endured a “Tony Khan Driver” (formerly known as the “Meltzer Driver”) executed by The Young Bucks, subsequent to a betrayal by the newly revived Jack Perry.
The sequence unfolded during last Wednesday’s “AEW Dynamite” broadcast from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, as Perry ambushed Khan, paving the way for the Bucks to deliver the devastating move, resulting in a storyline injury for Khan, who committed to the narrative by sporting a neck brace throughout the NFL Draft.
Khan’s father, Shahid Khan, owns the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tony serves as the team’s Chief Football Strategy Officer.
As the cameras faded on “Dynamite” from Jacksonville, a flurry of AEW officials and stars rushed to the ring to assist Khan, including his father.
Reflecting on the incident and his father’s presence on “Dynamite,” Khan shared with TV Insider the significance of having his father on the show and his reaction to the attack.
“He’s an exceptional father, a caring parent, and an outstanding individual,” Khan expressed. “I’ve gleaned invaluable lessons from him. His presence meant a lot to me, especially his concern and support during such a distressing moment.”
Khan’s storyline injury precludes him from traveling for upcoming “Dynamite” events, prompting him to announce that he will oversee AEW operations from Jacksonville.
On “AEW Collision,” Tony Schiavone relayed that Khan’s absence may be prolonged due to “multiple head and neck injuries” sustained in the attack.
While Khan won’t be present for the forthcoming episode, it was revealed that Kenny Omega will make his return to TV after a hiatus resulting from diverticulitis and his dismissal from The Elite by The Young Bucks.
