Another Thursday brings another exciting addition to the Epic Games Store’s lineup of freebies, this time featuring the stylish 3D side-scroller, Never Yield.
Also known as Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield, this game, released in 2021, presents players with an experience reminiscent of classic endless runners. Set in a visually striking future Tokyo, the game is accompanied by an impressive soundtrack crafted by Detroit artist Danime-Sama.
In Never Yield, players assume the role of Wally, a mysterious character on a mission to reclaim what was taken from him. With speed as your ally, you must outrun your adversaries, unraveling the truth behind the mystery that surrounds them.
Although Eurogamer didn’t conduct a formal review of Never Yield, Christian Donlan shared some early impressions when the game was in its demo phase. He described a dynamic gameplay experience filled with drones, pursuing vans, and adrenaline-pumping escapes, all against a vibrant backdrop. With its pace and themes of challenging injustices, Donlan drew parallels to the nostalgic vibes of Jet Set Radio.
For those enticed by Never Yield’s premise, the game will be up for grabs on the Epic Games Store until Thursday, March 8th. Following that, the spotlight will shift to Astro Duel 2, an upcoming sci-fi action game from developer Wild Rooster, promising a fusion of top-down dogfights and platforming thrills.
