In a recent revelation, The Undertaker shared his long-standing desire to square off against WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania, a dream match that never materialized.
Despite his unparalleled success at WrestleMania, The Deadman expressed regret over not having the opportunity to clash with Austin on the grand stage.
Reflecting on his career during a Q&A session on his podcast, The Undertaker voiced his disappointment, imagining how monumental the encounter would have been.
“It’d have to be Stone Cold. That’s really one of the only guys I didn’t get to work with at Mania. That would have been huge. The streak may have gotten broken earlier, but still, it would have been nice to work with Steve at Mania,”
The Undertaker revealed.
While Brock Lesnar infamously ended The Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania 30, the wrestling icon mused on the hypothetical scenario of Austin being the one to break it.
He acknowledged the divisive nature of such a decision, recognizing that while some fans would have embraced it, others would have criticized it.
“Steve was over at a level… That was just a whole another level that he was over at. It would probably be, just like anything else, half the people would love it, half the people would hate it. That’s how it is. Everybody has an opinion but that’s the guy that I would have liked to work with at Mania that I never got a chance to,”
The Undertaker reflected.
As both legends have since retired from in-ring competition, the possibility of this dream match ever materializing remains a wistful hope for fans.
