Former WWE talent Maven recently recounted a memorable backstage encounter with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, shedding light on a surprising piece of advice he received before his WrestleMania X8 match.
Maven, known for his tenure in WWE from 2001 to 2005 and a three-time Hardcore Champion, reminisced about his WrestleMania moment defending the Hardcore title against Goldust at Toronto’s SkyDome. Despite the pressure of the grand stage, Maven found himself feeling nervous backstage.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Maven shared his experience, revealing his anticipation of receiving special guidance or encouragement from The Rock.
However, The Rock’s approach took him by surprise, as he delivered a candid message, urging Maven to simply enjoy himself in the ring without the weight of expectations. Maven recalled:
“He’s (The Rock) gonna give me the special sauce. And as deadpan as you can imagine. He goes, ‘Mave, no one’s expecting much out of you just do the best you can,’ and turns around and I’m like, ‘What?’ And he turned and he turned and you know, that smile. And he gave me a wink. But that was the levity that was needed at that. Yeah, like, just listen dude, ‘We’re out here to entertain go out there and have fun.'”
The Rock’s light-hearted yet reassuring words provided Maven with the levity needed to approach his WrestleMania match with confidence and enjoyment.
In a recent episode of Monday Night RAW, fans witnessed a dramatic turn of events as The Rock, in his Final Boss persona, confronted Cody Rhodes.
The intense face-off culminated in a brutal assault by The Rock, leaving Rhodes bloodied and shaken.
Before the altercation, The Rock whispered something to Rhodes, heightening the suspense of the moment.
Taking to Instagram, The Rock teased fans with cryptic words, hinting at further developments in the storyline:
“Tonight, I’m gonna make you bleed – Final Boss.”
The Rock’s unexpected heel persona has ignited speculation among fans about potential future confrontations, particularly with Roman Reigns, setting the stage for an electrifying narrative leading up to WrestleMania 40.
