Catherine O’Hara is set to join the cast of The Last of Us for its second season. The accomplished actress, known for her roles as Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek and Kate McCallister in the Home Alone films, will be taking on an undisclosed character in HBO’s adaptation. While previous rumors hinted at her portraying a new character named Gail, no official confirmation has been made.
O’Hara will be joining the ensemble cast, which includes Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Pedro Pascal as Joel, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, and Isabela Merced as Dina for the upcoming season. Filming is already underway in Canada, with Gabriel Luna, who plays Tommy, sharing behind-the-scenes footage from Vancouver.
Scheduled to air in 2025, the second season of The Last of Us is expected to feature “a lot more infected” compared to the first season, though it won’t cover the entirety of the second game’s storyline.
The first season of The Last of Us garnered significant acclaim, securing eight Emmy awards, including Best Picture Editing, Main Title Design, Prosthetic Makeup, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Visual Effects. Storm Reid and Nick Offerman were recognized with Outstanding Guest Actress and Outstanding Guest Actor awards for their roles as Ellie’s friend Riley and survivor Bill, respectively.
For those looking to revisit the storyline, Naughty Dog released an enhanced version of The Last of Us Part 2 for PlayStation 5 last month. While some may not notice a substantial difference in graphics, the overall experience continues to captivate fans of the acclaimed game.
