The tradition of professional wrestling contract signings culminating in violence remains intact, as Samoa Joe and Swerve Strickland made their AEW World Championship title match official on “AEW Dynamite,” with Strickland taking a dramatic approach by signing the contract in his own blood following a brutal assault by Joe.
In a tense segment, the champion wasted no time, promptly sitting at the table and signing the contract without hesitation, while Strickland, visibly agitated, paced around, much to the annoyance of Tony Schiavone.
Despite Joe’s ominous warning of Strickland’s impending defeat and his intention to leave Swerve scarred akin to someone who “left Diddy’s party too late,” Strickland asserted his readiness for the moment he had long pursued.
However, tensions escalated when Swerve suddenly attacked Joe with a chain. Although Joe managed to seize the weapon and strike Strickland, drawing blood, the altercation intensified.
After Joe left the ring, the atmosphere took a chilling turn as laughter echoed over the microphone, prompting his return.
A grinning and seemingly unhinged Strickland, familiar with bloodshed from his notorious Texas Death Match with “Hangman” Adam Page at Full Gear last year, ominously vowed to dethrone Joe at Dynasty.
He then symbolically signed the contract in blood before being met with a Uranage through the table from Joe, bringing the show to a dramatic conclusion.
