Enshrouded, an RPG-infused survival game, faced the challenge of launching in the shadow of Palworld, another open-world survival game that gained significant virality.
Despite this, Enshrouded has achieved success in its own right, with developer Keen Games announcing that the game reached 1 million players just four days after its Early Access launch. This milestone has solidified Enshrouded as a highly popular survival game in its own category.
Expressing their gratitude for the positive reception, the Keen team posted on Steam, stating, “We are completely blown away by its success and the overwhelmingly positive reception. From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank all our players.
We’re excited to let you know that this is just the beginning for Enshrouded.” Given that Enshrouded is still in the early stages of its Early Access journey, scheduled to conclude “within a year,” it is indeed the beginning of what promises to be an exciting development.
Keen Games is actively working on the next update, acknowledging the valuable input from players who have shared suggestions and feedback, as well as those who reported encountering issues. Despite the significant number of players involved, Keen emphasizes that they are committed to making Enshrouded a truly special experience, and the community’s support is propelling them toward that goal.
Among the top community-requested updates is a modification to allow one player on a 16-player server to progress quests for everyone, even those who are offline. Additionally, players have expressed the desire for an increased level of challenge in certain areas of the game world, where threats are currently scarce.
Enshrouded currently boasts 13,598 user reviews on Steam, with an impressive “very positive” 84% rating. Notably, Enshrouded is Keen Games’ second game of this genre, following Portal Knights, a charming sandbox action RPG released in 2017.
In just four days, Enshrouded has accumulated nearly as many Steam reviews as Portal Knights, with a slightly higher overall score, showcasing the game’s rapid and favorable reception in the gaming community.
