WWE Superstar Seth Rollins and AEW star Will Ospreay never got into the ring together but they had a heated conversation online on a WWE post.
Ahead of his main event appearance at WWE WrestleMania 40, Rollins discussed various topics in an interview with The Ringer, including his verbal clash with Ospreay in 2019.
Rollins elaborated on why he felt compelled to assert himself so forcefully.
“WWE is my home, you know?” Rollins explained. “I’m not just talking about the talent; I’m talking about the entire team, the production, the creative — whether you love it or hate it, we’re the best.
I’ve stood by these people in my family and supported them for years because I genuinely believe in the work we all do to bring up this industry.”
The online spat ignited after Rollins responded to a WWE social media post by proclaiming WWE as the best pro wrestling on the planet. Ospreay interjected with a simple statement, “I’m alive.”
Although relatively mild, Rollins’ retort to Ospreay had a sharper tone, referring to him as “little guy” and asserting that Ricochet surpassed the NJPW star.
The exchange escalated with Rollins provocatively challenging Ospreay to compare bank accounts.
Rollins later expressed regret for his choice of words, and Ospreay accepted his apology. Despite being affiliated with different wrestling companies, both have teased the possibility of a Rollins-Ospreay “dream match.”
Rollins believes that Ospreay is excelling in the wrestling world. Despite operating on separate platforms, both stars remain part of the same industry, fostering mutual respect among elite performers.
“[Will Ospreay] is undeniably one of the top talents in the world,”
Rollins affirmed.
“I’m pleased to see him reaching the pinnacle of our industry.”
