WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio has given an update on his retirement plans and shared some insights into a potential final match, sparking intrigue among fans.
After a successful tag team victory alongside Andrade at WrestleMania XL, where they defeated Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio, Rey reflected on his future in the ring.
Despite previously setting a retirement age of fifty, Rey, now 49, admitted that his body still feels strong and his passion for wrestling remains high.
“I had a number in mind, but I’m listening to my body. It’s reacting great, and my motivation is strong. I want to ensure everything’s in top shape before making any decisions,”
he expressed in an interview with Metro UK.
Rey Mysterio also floated an enticing retirement match idea, expressing interest in facing his son, Dominik, in a high-stakes showdown. He suggested a Hair vs. Mask match, adding an extra layer of drama to their potential clash.
“I wouldn’t mind betting my mask against something big for the last time. I mean, would Dom put his hair on the line? Mask versus hair? Why not? Yeah, that might be a great option,”
Rey elaborated in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Emily Mae.
As the storyline unfolds, Dominik Mysterio’s failed recruitment attempt of Andrade to The Judgment Day faction ahead of WrestleMania further intensifies the family drama.
Instead, Andrade joined forces with the Latino World Order, leading to a thrilling tag team match at WrestleMania, where Philadelphia Eagles’ legends Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson made a surprise appearance to support their team’s victory.
With Rey Mysterio’s retirement plans and a potential father-son showdown looming, the wrestling world eagerly anticipates the next chapter in this charming saga.
