At the Future Games Show during Gamescom, Retrieval, an eagerly awaited horror game developed by seasoned industry veterans, revealed a new trailer that highlighted its release windows and platforms. The event, presented by Sid Meier’s Civilization® VII, generated significant buzz around the game’s upcoming launch.
The trailer, which showcases the game’s impressive graphics, was captured entirely in-engine using NVIDIA’s ReSTIR technology and Unreal Engine 5. Players will take on the role of Hana Loshe, a commander leading a research team on a planet that has been drastically altered. The unsettling environment plays a central role in the game’s narrative, adding to its intense atmosphere.
In the footage, Hana is depicted navigating hazardous subway tunnels, resulting in a dramatic crash that leaves her badly injured. The trailer also provides glimpses of various threats that players will face throughout the game, indicating that Hana will encounter both helpful characters and dangerous enemies.
With support from NVIDIA and PlayStation and contributions from developers with experience working on titles like those from Naughty Dog, Retrieval is poised to become a standout in the horror genre. While the game is expected to release in 2026, it is already available to wishlist on Steam, with additional pages for its PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions forthcoming.
