Moon Studios has revealed that its dark action RPG, No Rest for the Wicked, will debut on Steam early access on April 18th. Unveiled at The Game Awards last year, No Rest for the Wicked is described as an expansive and visceral action RPG aiming to innovate within the genre.
Players assume the role of Cerim, a holy warrior endowed with extraordinary abilities, on a quest across the unforgiving Isola Sacra to combat an unholy plague.
The game boasts a mature, dark narrative intertwined with brutal, precision-based combat and a meticulously crafted world. Players can tackle its challenges, quests, and formidable bosses solo or team up with up to three companions.
Upon its early access launch on April 18th, No Rest for the Wicked will feature the first chapter of its campaign along with additional quests, providing deeper insights into the world and its denizens. It will also offer a diverse array of weapons, armor, skills, and crafting options.
Players will have the opportunity to personalize and furnish their home base, engage in daily and weekly bounties and challenges, and explore a replayable dungeon.
Although Moon Studios has not specified a duration for the early access phase, they have outlined plans for significant expansion leading up to the 1.0 release. This expansion will include features such as four-player co-op, PvP, new regions, and farming mechanics. Furthermore, the game is slated for release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with timing yet to be confirmed.
No Rest for the Wicked marks Moon Studios’ first release since the 2020 sequel to Ori, Will of the Wisps. Following the launch of the latter, VentureBeat published a report alleging a toxic work environment at Moon Studios, citing instances of inappropriate behavior, including racism, sexism, and bullying.
Moon Studios founders Thomas Mahler and Gennadiy Korol refuted these claims, acknowledging instances where their conversations may have made others uncomfortable and expressing a commitment to fostering a healthier workplace culture.
