Sony dropped some disappointing news for Little Big Planet 3 enthusiasts last Friday. They announced that the game’s servers would be shut down “indefinitely.”
This decision follows months of server downtime since January, all because of technical glitches.
Little Big Planet 3, crafted by Sumo Digital Ltd and released in 2014, quickly captured the hearts of players as another cherished installment in the franchise.
One standout feature that fans adored was the ability to create and share their own imaginative levels with fellow players.
However, the game encountered its first major setback in 2021 when it fell victim to a DDOS attack. As a result, the servers for the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita versions were forced to shut down temporarily, while those for the PlayStation 4 version soldiered on.
Now that the servers for the PlayStation 4 servers have shut down, players won’t be unable to access the game’s online services, including sharing any user generated content. However, player content can still be stored locally on the platform the game is played on.
Additionally, players can still use Little Big Planet 3’s Offline features, which include its campaign.
Regardless, the loss of these servers has left a bad taste in fans’ mouths, with the years of player creative content effectively lost for good.
