Former WWE and TNA star Kimber Lee is currently entangled in serious legal matters that could potentially lead to prison time. Recent updates from the courtroom shed light on the ongoing legal proceedings following her violent arrest.
Kimber Lee’s wrestling journey began in October 2011, spanning promotions like CZW, WSU, Shine, and Shimmer, until she joined WWE in December 2016. Under the ring name Abbey Laith, she contributed to WWE NXT and participated in the Mae Young Classic before her release in March 2018.
Following her departure, she continued her career with Stardom and TNA until announcing her retirement on May 6, 2023.
However, Lee’s retirement was swiftly followed by her arrest on May 11, 2023. Charged with DUI, Resisting an Officer with Violence, and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, the incident unfolded when police responded to reports of Lee driving on the wrong side of the highway.
Subsequent interactions with Officer PJ Roberts escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in injuries to the officer and Lee’s arrest.
Despite pleading not guilty and waiving her right to a speedy trial, Lee, facing financial constraints, obtained a public defender. The pre-trial hearing, initially scheduled for this week, was postponed for undisclosed reasons.
Lee’s next court appearance is set for Wednesday, May 22, presided over by Judge Angela Cowden of Highlands County, Florida.
If convicted, Lee faces potential incarceration and hefty fines. A first-time misdemeanor DUI offense carries penalties of up to six months in jail, community service, and fines.
Additionally, charges of Resisting an Officer with Violence and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, both third-degree felonies, could result in prolonged imprisonment and substantial fines.
In a separate but similarly distressing development, WWE Hall of Famer Tammy “Sunny” Sytch has been sentenced to 17.5 years in prison following her conviction for DUI Manslaughter and related charges.
Despite her appeal, Sytch’s legal battles are far from over, with multiple pending cases and civil lawsuits stemming from a fatal crash in 2022. Vince Russo, former WWE Attitude Era head writer, reflected on Sytch’s downfall during a recent podcast, citing the challenges of stering professional wrestling at a young age.
