Lady Gaga is set to make her debut in Fortnite, marking a significant turn of events for the global music icon who once famously questioned the phenomenon of “Fortnight.”
This arrival within the game represents a full-circle moment for Lady Gaga, whose social media post from October 2019, simply asking “What’s Fortnite,” went viral. Now, five years later, Lady Gaga’s account has reposted her original message alongside an image of her upcoming in-game character model, along with the correction “*Fortnite.”
The image is labeled with “Fortnite Festival,” the game’s Rock Band/Guitar Hero-style rhythm game mode that launched late last year. The Festival’s second season is scheduled to commence on Thursday, February 22nd, following its initial season that featured The Weeknd.
If previous patterns hold, players can expect Lady Gaga to be available as a playable character skin, accompanied by a collection of her music tracks for players to enjoy tapping along to.
Lady Gaga’s inclusion in Fortnite comes after years of anticipation, with early plans for her appearance in the game first hinted at in court documents revealed during developer Epic Games’ legal battle with Apple. Fans had even speculated about her appearance during a season themed around chrome, though they were ultimately left waiting.
While Lady Gaga’s arrival is now imminent, this month brought disappointment as it was confirmed that the long-rumored Fortnite-Doctor Who collaboration would not be happening anytime soon.
