LA Knight’s ascent to WWE stardom has been nothing short of meteoric, with his electrifying persona captivating audiences worldwide on Friday Night SmackDown.
However, the journey hasn’t been without its share of controversies, notably sparked by a comment from WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash.
Nash’s eyebrow-raising statement last year, where he questioned Knight’s authenticity and likened him to a knock-off version of The Rock, stirred quite a debate among fans.
This critique, though, did little to dampen the enthusiasm of Knight’s supporters, who have been firmly aboard the hype train since his standout performance at WrestleMania 39.
In a recent interview on Gorilla Position, LA Knight candidly addressed the online backlash and the wisdom imparted by seasoned veterans within the wrestling industry. He didn’t shy away from responding to Nash’s remarks either.
“Who the hell is that? And from there, you know, do what you want to do with it. No, no, but I’ve had conversations with his friends about it, and they’ve all just been like, ‘Don’t even listen to the stuff!’ I mean, whatever I am going to do, worry about that. I mean, in a certain sense, I guess there’s one part of me where it’s just like, ‘Alright, this guy wants to take food off my table. That’s cool, which is kind of a piece of s**t move, but that’s cool!’ At the same time, I’m like, ‘Why am I going to bother thinking too much about it?”’ LA Knight remarked.
Meanwhile, fellow SmackDown superstar Randy Orton, who returned to WWE in grand fashion at the Survivor Series Premium Live Event last year, shared his admiration for Knight during an interview on WWE’s The Bump.
Orton, who has shared the ring with Knight in a Fatal Four-Way match alongside AJ Styles and Roman Reigns at Royal Rumble 2024, expressed optimism about Knight’s future.
“Too early to tell, but I have high hopes. I would love to see him happy and able to do whatever his goals are. I would love to see him fulfill those goals, as long as they don’t get in my way. I’m fine with him doing his thing. I’ve seen so many guys come up, get hot, and then putter out. I’m not saying that’s him; as a matter of fact, he’s one of a kind. He’s got something different. Fans, I don’t think I’ve ever seen fans just take to somebody they didn’t really know so quickly,” Orton praised.
In the ever-evolving world of WWE, LA Knight’s journey promises to be one filled with twists, turns, and undoubtedly, more moments that will leave the WWE Universe buzzing with excitement.
