Kenny Omega, the former AEW World Champion, possesses deep familiarity with New Japan Pro Wrestling’s annual G1 Climax tournament.
Renowned as one of wrestling’s most grueling and esteemed round-robin competitions, the G1 demands immense physical and mental endurance from its participants, who deliver some of the industry’s most lauded performances in pursuit of victory.
Notably, Omega stands as the sole non-Japanese wrestler to have claimed victory in the G1, granting him unique insight into the tournament’s rigors and requirements.
In a recent Twitch stream, Omega fielded a question regarding his thoughts on WWE United States Champion Logan Paul.
In response, Omega acknowledged Paul’s potential, forecasting his evolution into a formidable performer over time. However, Omega expressed skepticism regarding Paul’s readiness for the arduous challenge of the G1.
“No, Logan Paul absolutely could not compete in a G1,” Omega asserted. “Whether he can reach that level in the future… it hinges on his dedication, though ultimately, does it matter?
No. It’s evident he’s firmly establishing himself within WWE, aspiring to shine as a star in that world, and that’s entirely reasonable.”
Further prompted to nominate WWE talents suitable for the G1, Omega identified Gunther for his physical prowess, Seth Rollins for his stylistic resonance and storytelling capabilities derived from his athleticism, and Ilja Dragunov, whom Omega also deemed apt for the Best of the Super Juniors tournament.
