Big news! JoJo Siwa has officially stepped into her new “adult” era, and she’s marked the occasion with the release of a brand-new song.
While JoJo is clearly thriving in this new chapter of her career and is super excited about it, she’s also had to deal with some harsh criticism from certain corners of the internet. But she’s not letting that get her down. In fact, she’s responded to the negativity head-on.
Describing her new grown-up ‘bad girl’ era, JoJo has expressed her admiration for Miley Cyrus’ iconic Bangerz era. Speaking to Access Hollywood at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, JoJo said,
“This is what I want. She is my number one idol. I want to do what she did with Bangerz. I want to have that moment. I’m flattered that the world even can compare that.”

However, not everyone is on board with JoJo’s new direction. Some people have been quick to critique her latest project, dissecting her comments about emulating Miley and questioning the authenticity of her rebrand.
Despite the negativity, there are plenty of fans who are loving JoJo’s new song and video.
“I fear JoJo Siwa had the best release of the night. She came and MOTHERED,” one fan commented. Another added, “WHY did JoJo Siwa actually eat that up…I fear she ate too hard”
And, of course, there are those who have come to her defense, urging people to let JoJo live her truth and explore her artistry freely.
In response to all the chatter about her new era, JoJo told E! News,
“People are afraid of things they don’t know. Things can be scary for people. New things can be very, very scary.”
But JoJo is staying focused on her craft and the positive feedback she’s been receiving.
“Creating art is such a special, special thing,” she said. “And I’m very lucky that I get to be one of the people in the world that gets to create art.”
