Jade Cargill, the former All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star, made a triumphant debut in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) by capturing the Women’s Tag Team Championship at Backlash France on Saturday. This marks a milestone in Cargill’s career, as she becomes the first wrestler to win WWE gold in her first title match.
Cargill, along with her partner Bianca Belair, defeated The Kabuki Warriors in an electrifying match that lasted over 17 minutes. The match culminated with Cargill catching Kairi Sane in mid-air with her signature move, “Jaded,” allowing Belair to finish off Asuka with a devastating KOD (Kiss of Death) for the pin.
Interestingly, fans on social media were quick to notice that Cargill’s finisher to Kairi Sane was reminiscent of her match against Skye Blue at AEW Battle of The Belts V on January 6, 2023. However, there was a slight variation in the move, as Cargill rolled Kairi over to set up Belair for the finishing blow.
This victory marks Cargill’s tenth match overall since departing from AEW, where she was a prominent figure and the inaugural TBS Champion. Her last match in AEW was a rematch loss to Kris Statlander for the TBS Championship on the September 15, 2023 edition of Rampage.
After the historic win, Cargill took to social media to express her gratitude to her supporters, showcasing a softer side to her character. In a post-Backlash press conference, Cargill also shared some insightful comments on the differences between WWE and AEW, offering a unique perspective on her experiences in both promotions.
Cargill’s brash and confident in-ring persona has already made an impact in WWE, and her championship win is a testament to her talent and hard work. As she continues to make a name for herself in the WWE, fans can expect more exciting matches and clashes from this rising star.
