Helldivers 2 has recently expanded its player capacity in anticipation of another bustling weekend for its servers.
In a recent announcement, game director Johan Pilestedt unveiled that the game can now accommodate up to 700,000 concurrent players, setting the stage for what promises to be an active gaming experience. Despite the expected surge in player numbers, Pilestedt expressed confidence, stating, “We believe that the wait times will be much more bearable.”
Patch notes on the Steam platform confirm the implementation of the enhanced server capacity along with fixes for various issues, including a bug where players would become trapped in cinematics.
The patch notes acknowledge several ongoing issues, such as the “10003001” error code encountered by some PS5 players during login, occasional disconnections during gameplay, delays or failures in attributing rewards, and instances of game freezes when interacting with specific objects.
The notes sign off with a cheerful wish for Helldivers to have an enjoyable and liberating weekend.
This weekend’s anticipated improvements come after previous weekends marred by server struggles resulting from the game’s immense popularity.
Last week, Pilestedt openly admitted to apprehension regarding the technical challenges of the upcoming weekend, expressing a hopeful outlook while keeping his fingers crossed.
Arrowhead, the development team behind the game, also issued an apology for the persistent server issues, acknowledging the strain on server capacity and pledging to address the situation by enhancing the maximum capacity.
Helldivers 2 continues to make waves as PlayStation’s most significant Steam launch to date, boasting an impressive all-time concurrent peak of over 457,000 players.
