Helldivers 2 is extending a gesture of goodwill to its player base by offering a 50 percent bonus in both XP and requisition points. This move comes in response to a persistent issue that has been preventing some players from receiving their rightful rewards upon completing missions.
Deputy game director Sagar took to Twitter to address the issue, acknowledging that while the team is actively working on a fix, they wanted to ensure that players could still enjoy their gameplay experience over the weekend without undue frustration.
During the timeframe extending until the end of Sunday Central European Time (11 pm UK Time / 6 pm EST / 3 pm PST), players can expect to see their rewards significantly boosted with the additional XP bonus applied on top of their base mission score.
Sagar explained the rationale behind this decision, stating, “We’re aware of a problem that has caused some player rewards not to be paid out properly at the end of missions. We are working on a fix for this, but in the meantime, we want to try and alleviate the impact as we head into the weekend.”
To signal the activation of this bonus, players will notice a Game Master Effect labeled “Accounting Corrections” while aboard the Super Destroyer.
Expressing gratitude for the community’s patience and support, Sagar urged players to continue defending their territory against Automaton incursions, adding a lighthearted note about the “glorious cascade of memes” that have been shared.
This announcement follows remarks made by Helldivers 2 creative director and Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt regarding the studio’s philosophy on monetization.
Pilestedt emphasized that while players are encouraged to support the game through DLC and microtransactions, there is no obligation to do so, underlining the studio’s commitment to earning players’ support rather than coercing it.
In terms of player engagement, Helldivers 2 has seen impressive numbers, becoming PlayStation’s biggest Steam launch to date, boasting nearly 300,000 concurrent users on the PC platform over the weekend. This milestone surpasses the previous record held by Sony Santa Monica’s God of War reboot, which had 73,529 simultaneous users.
