Gypsy Rose Blanchard has initiated divorce proceedings against Ryan Scott Anderson, ending their marriage of less than two years.
Us Weekly has confirmed through online records that Blanchard, 32, filed the necessary documents on Monday, April 8.
Their split came to light in March, with Blanchard addressing the separation via a statement shared on her private Facebook account.
“People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately, my husband and I are going through a separation, and I moved in with my parents’ home down the bayou,” she wrote.
“I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now, I need time to let myself find … who I am.”
Since the separation announcement, Blanchard has been seen in Louisiana with her former fiancé Ken Urker. The two, engaged in 2018 before splitting in 2019, recently got matching tattoos.
Meanwhile, Anderson opened up about the split earlier this month, expressing his struggle with the separation. “For me, it just came out of the blue,” he shared with the Daily Mail, revealing his surprise at Blanchard’s lingering feelings for Urker.
The separation occurred three months after Blanchard’s release from Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri, where she served seven years for her involvement in the 2015 murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, alongside then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn.
After pleading guilty to second-degree murder, Blanchard was sentenced to 10 years in prison but was granted parole in September 2023, leading to her release in December of the same year.
In 2020, while still incarcerated, Blanchard connected with Anderson, who initiated contact via a letter. Two years later, they exchanged vows in a jailhouse ceremony.
However, following Blanchard’s release, the couple encountered difficulties in their marriage.
Allegations surfaced, including an incident where Blanchard purportedly locked herself in a bathroom in Lake Charles, Louisiana, as Anderson banged on the door late at night.
According to Blanchard’s friend Nadiya Vizier, Anderson’s behavior was intimidating. Vizier recounted an instance where Blanchard felt threatened, prompting her to seek refuge at her father’s house in Cut Off, Louisiana.
