WWE superstar Grayson Waller is confident in his and Austin Theory’s prospects of emerging victorious in the WrestleMania Tag Team Championship tournament.
Waller and Theory are set to participate in an extensive tournament to determine five tag teams that will vie against The Judgment Day in a Six-Pack Ladder Match for the Undisputed Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania.
Notably, Legado del Fantasma and New Catch Republic have already advanced to the second round of the bracket-style competition.
Speaking on SmackDown Lowdown, Waller highlighted the experience he and Theory have gained by facing some of the top stars on the roster week after week.
He stressed the need to shift their focus away from established names like Randy Orton and Kevin Owens, who have secured their spots at WrestleMania.
“Over the past eight months, Theory and I have consistently showcased our abilities in the ring against the best in the world. But instead of worrying about Randy Orton or Kevin Owens, who already have their spots secured at WrestleMania, it’s time we focus on ourselves,”
Waller expressed, urging Theory to redirect their attention to their upcoming match against The OC.
“I believe it’s time, Theory, that we prioritize ourselves. We need to channel our energy into A-Town Down Under. There’s nobody in this locker room who can match us. We’re young, hungry, fast, and strong. We possess everything this tag division needs, and it’s time we start focusing on that. So, how about next week, we forget about them and concentrate on us and The OC? How does that sound?” he urged.
However, Waller’s optimism was dampened on WWE SmackDown when he faced Randy Orton in a singles bout. Despite Waller’s best efforts, he proved to be no match for The Viper, succumbing to an RKO after a devastating DDT.
Following the match, Austin Theory and Logan Paul attempted to ambush Orton, only to be thwarted by the intervention of Kevin Owens. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis later announced that Logan Paul would defend the US Title against both Orton and Owens at WrestleMania XL.
As the tournament progresses and tensions escalate, Waller and Theory will need to regroup and refocus to capitalize on their opportunity at WrestleMania.
