Former WWE head writer Vince Russo shares his perspective on the recent confrontation between The Rock and Cody Rhodes at the beginning of this week’s RAW, expressing concerns about its reception among casual fans.
Starting off Monday Night RAW, The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes, seized the spotlight, criticizing Roman Reigns for his sporadic appearances on WWE TV.
However, the segment took an unexpected turn when The Final Boss, The Rock, made a surprise entrance, interrupting Rhodes’ promo and sharing a private exchange with him before exiting the ring.
Reflecting on this segment during Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Legion of RAW, Russo noted that it felt prolonged without a satisfying conclusion.
He highlighted the risk of losing the interest of casual viewers who may have tuned out before the segment’s climax, particularly as the episode concluded with The Rock attacking Rhodes backstage.
“Now you got people invested in that first segment because like you said, The Rock’s there, it was a surprise, we weren’t expecting this. Now we’re all invested in this segment. This segment goes on forever, This segment ends and nothing happens. Now you got the casual viewing audience saying, ‘Are you F’n kidding me? We sat there all that time for that? Nothing happened.’ They think Rock’s done. They’re not around for the end of this show. They’re gone.” [10:40 onwards]
Looking ahead, The Rock is slated to appear on RAW once again for the upcoming go-home episode before WrestleMania. Additionally, The Final Boss will be joined by Roman Reigns during next week’s show, adding anticipation to their pre-WrestleMania showdown.
As the buildup to WrestleMania intensifies, the comments from The Bloodline are eagerly awaited, setting the stage for what promises to be an electrifying Showcase of Immortals.
