Triple H’s past relationship with Chyna, followed by his romance with Stephanie McMahon, remains a topic of interest. Debra Jaswaye, a former WWE Creative Director, recently reflected on Chyna’s struggles during that period in a revealing interview.
Chyna and Triple H’s split has been a subject of speculation, with conflicting accounts from both parties. While Triple H suggested their relationship had soured before he started dating Stephanie McMahon, Chyna claimed he left her for the boss’s daughter.
Jaswaye, who worked with WWE for over a decade, shed light on Chyna’s emotional turmoil after the breakup. She recalled instances where Chyna became uncooperative behind the scenes, attributing it to the heartbreak she was enduring.
“It was like so high school, mean girl stuff, and I just remember Chyna being in her faux dressing room; it was probably an extra bathroom, and she didn’t wanna come out. It was like, ‘We have to do this shoot,’ and she was being a diva, but she was also dealing with a tremendous amount of emotional heartbreak. I can only imagine what it was like,” Jaswaye stated.
Chyna’s presence in WWE was iconic, often portraying Triple H’s bodyguard in D-Generation X. Despite her challenging behavior at times, Jaswaye expressed understanding, emphasizing Chyna’s emotional burden.
Jaswaye recalled an incident where Chyna wore an engagement ring during a WWE commercial shoot, suggesting her lingering attachment to Triple H.
“Can you blame her? She’s got a lot, she’s carrying a lot, and she’s working for a company where she has to face people that kind of broke her heart. But sure as hell she had an engagement ring on when I saw her when we were filming the Super Bowl commercial,” she added.
Chyna’s untimely death in 2016 marked the end of an era, but her legacy lives on, recognized by her posthumous induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019 as part of D-Generation X.
