WWE fans are accustomed to Superstars evolving their personas post-WWE departure, and one beloved figure has undergone a significant transformation just months after leaving the company.
Rick Boogs, a former NCAA wrestler, caught the attention of fans when he signed with WWE in 2017.
Known for his natural charisma and vibrant performances, Boogs quickly amassed a loyal following with his electrifying guitar performances alongside Shinsuke Nakamura on WWE SmackDown, earning him a spot as a fan favorite.
However, Boogs’ journey with WWE came to an unexpected halt on September 21, 2023, when he was released from the company amidst budget cuts. Since then, Boogs has maintained a low profile in the wrestling world, focusing on training and engaging with fans on social media platforms.
Recently, the University of Wisconsin alum took to Instagram to show his striking new appearance, showcasing a transformation that left fans astonished.
Despite his departure from the wrestling scene, Boogs has not forgotten his roots.
His last match was in the SummerSlam Battle Royal in August 2023, which saw LA Knight emerge victorious. His final televised singles match was a loss to Knight on the May 19 edition of SmackDown.
In a recent interview on the Insight podcast with Chris Van Vliet, Boogs reflected on his wrestling journey and revealed his decision to step away from the sport. When asked about his future in wrestling, Boogs expressed his unequivocal stance.
“No. When I first decided I was going to do wrestling, pursue it, I had to be all in on something. So, like, I was doing strength and conditioning stuff, personal training… I was like, if I’m gonna commit to this other endeavor, I just gotta get [in the zone],”
Boogs explained.
Currently, Boogs is fully immersed in his role as co-owner of the vitamin/supplement company, Psycho Pharma, indicating a new chapter in his life beyond the wrestling ring.
