During her tenure at WWE, Debra Jaswaye, who served as the Creative Director from 1990 to 2005, revealed some interesting insights into Vince McMahon’s preferences.
In a recent podcast interview, she disclosed McMahon’s unusual aversion to the color green, which often posed a challenge for her team when designing merchandise and posters.
According to Jaswaye, McMahon’s dislike for green was something they always kept in mind, especially when incorporating the color into their designs, such as the iconic D-Generation X promo featuring a green background.
Reflecting on McMahon’s approach to handling backstage ideas, Jaswaye highlighted the collaborative process between the creative department and McMahon.
Despite occasional disagreements, McMahon generally respected and approved the suggestions put forward by the creative team, particularly when it came to naming WWE characters, pay-per-views, and developing merchandise-related slogans.
Jaswaye emphasized McMahon’s decisive role in making creative decisions, asserting that he ultimately had the final say in all matters.
In addition to McMahon’s creative input, Jaswaye also shared insights into a 1990s misconduct case involving a WWE Hall of Famer.
Furthermore, she recounted an incident from the early 2000s where Linda McMahon, Vince’s wife, issued warnings of fines to backstage personnel, shedding light on the dynamic environment within WWE during her tenure.
