Former WWE employee Tommy Carlucci recently shared his thoughts on the potential departure of Drew McIntyre from the Stamford-based company.
McIntyre, known as the Scottish Warrior, has been a prominent figure in WWE for the past seven years.
However, with his contract nearing expiration and no reported renewal, speculation about his exit has surfaced despite his recent push within the promotion.
Speaking on the Behind The Turnbuckle podcast, Carlucci expressed his surprise at the possibility of WWE failing to secure a new deal with McIntyre under Triple H’s creative leadership.
“Drew’s been striving to be the champion and all that. And if he left, I would be totally shocked that WWE couldn’t get a deal done with Drew McIntyre because he’s a top talent, Coach. He can cut a promo. He can work in the ring. He can represent the company in a big way. He can go on a talk show. He can do a spot on a TV show or anything like that. He can go on Saturday Night Live or whatever. He’s very entertaining and I think I would be totally shocked if Drew McIntyre left,” Carlucci remarked.
Despite his recent accomplishments, including winning the Men’s Elimination Chamber match and capturing the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL, McIntyre’s title reign was short-lived due to a Money in the Bank cash-in by Damian Priest, facilitated by a post-match assault from CM Punk.
While McIntyre’s future with WWE remains uncertain, his ongoing feud with Punk continues to unfold, with the latter interfering in McIntyre’s matches, most recently during a Fatal Four-Way number-one contender’s match on RAW after WrestleMania, where Punk prevented McIntyre from executing a crucial move.
