Astra Logical, a fresh entrant in the indie publishing scene, has recently emerged from stealth under the leadership of managing director Heather Jackson, formerly associated with Amazon Games.
Comprising a dynamic team, Astra Logical features operations and finance manager Ryan Tagawa, previously a marketing associate at Serenity Forge, head of marketing Laura Topakian, formerly a senior marketing manager at Those Awesome Guys, and scout and developer relations manager Rachel Heleva, previously an associate producer at Modus and a producer at Astra Fund.
The announcement characterizes Astra Logical as an “evolution” from the philanthropic fund Astra Fund, which underwent layoffs in December, despite its launch in April 2022.
Clarifying the relationship between Astra Fund and Astra Logical, a spokesperson stated, “Astra Fund doesn’t exist anymore, not as an entity nor as a separate branch. Astra Logical is the only entity, handling for-profit publishing only.”
Astra Logical aims to specialize in “premium thinky games,” drawing on the expertise of advisors such as Eileen Hollinger, currently the head of Capybara Games and an original member of Astra Fund’s founding team, and Nick Suttner, an indie games veteran and co-founder of Furniture & Mattress.
