Former WWE head writer Vince Russo shared insights into why Becky Lynch captured the Women’s World Championship on RAW.
After Rhea Ripley’s injury led to her relinquishing the title, RAW hosted a Battle Royal to determine the new champion. Lynch emerged victorious by eliminating Liv Morgan with a Manhandle Slam.
Russo speculated on Wrestling’s Legion of RAW that Lynch’s contract status might have influenced WWE’s decision. He suggested that WWE wanted to demonstrate their confidence in Lynch to persuade her to renew her contract.
“Maybe they felt she wasn’t going to sign and they wanted her to sign. This is a way of them showing all the confidence they have in her.”
Russo also emphasized Lynch’s need for a break after an intense WrestleMania season, acknowledging her hard work for WWE.
“I was getting under the impression that she was gonna take some time off, which I think she needed. I mean she works her b*tt off bro, never, ever take that away from her.” [11:48 onwards]
With Ripley sidelined, the spotlight shifts to who will step up as Lynch’s challenger for the Women’s Championship.
