Eric Bischoff is launching a new online program, Wise Choices. The Former WCW executive got together with AEW Owner Tony Khan in the first episode of the show. Both executives couldn’t help but compare their leadership roles.
Reflecting on his past, Bischoff reminisced, “I used to have this ‘ATM’ thing attached to me, you know? I think it was Mick Foley who coined it.
Initially, it irked me because it implied casual access to financial resources. But, earning the trust and capital necessary to recruit top-tier talents like Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage was no easy feat.”
Bischoff’s reference to being dubbed “ATM Eric” in the 1990s underscores the sizable contracts he offered WCW wrestlers.
Over time, he learned to embrace this moniker as part of his professional persona, albeit after some initial resistance.
Subsequently, he shifted the focus back to critiquing Khan, highlighting the latter’s penchant for signing relatively unknown performers to multi-million dollar deals.
“Let me be clear, this isn’t about the talent,” Bischoff clarified. “The talent is not the issue here.
What concerns me is Tony Khan’s apparent lack of adeptness in booking and producing television content. Rumors suggest he’s obstinate and unwilling to collaborate with experienced individuals.”
Bischoff and Khan tend to disagree, including the rumor started by Dax Harwood that Bischoff wanted a position inside AEW. Bischoff denies such a thing ever happened.
