In a hilarious and entertaining debut episode of AEW’s new YouTube show “Meal and a Match,” former AEW Continental Champion Eddie Kingston made some sidesplitting comments about his co-worker Ricky Starks. The show, hosted by RJ City and Renne Paquette, premiered on May 17, 2024, and featured Kingston as its inaugural guest.
The episode saw the trio watching a 2020 Dynamite segment featuring Darby Allin vs. Ricky Starks while enjoying a delicious meal. When asked to share his thoughts on the two talented wrestlers, Kingston couldn’t resist taking a lighthearted jab at Starks. While Kingston’s remarks were humorous, they also showed his admiration for Starks’ skills in the ring.
However, Kingston’s recent wrestling endeavors haven’t been all laughs and jokes. Last weekend, he defended his NJPW Strong Openweight Championship against Gabe Kidd in a No Rope Last Man Standing Match at NJPW Resurgence. Unfortunately, Kingston suffered a devastating loss, and to make matters worse, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that he had broken his foot in the process.
As Kingston navigates this setback, fans will be eagerly awaiting his return to the ring. In the meantime, his replacement, Darby Allin, will join forces with Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler, and Bryan Danielson to take on Jack Perry, The Young Bucks (Nicholas and Matthew Jackson), and Kazuchika Okada in the highly anticipated Anarchy in The Arena Match at Double or Nothing.
The marquee pay-per-view event is scheduled to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada, on May 26, 2024. While Kingston’s absence will undoubtedly be felt, the excitement surrounding the Anarchy in The Arena Match is palpable. Will Darby Allin and his teammates emerge victorious, or will their opponents prove too strong to overcome? Only time will tell.
