Dominick Cruz, the former multi-time UFC bantamweight champion, has expressed a desire to have rematches with Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera and Henry Cejudo. In a recent conversation on the Matan Even YouTube channel, Cruz highlighted his interest in facing these two opponents again, citing previous losses to both fighters as motivation for seeking redemption.
During the discussion, Cruz mentioned,
“That was my last fight [vs ‘Chito’ Vera]. That’s why I would take a rematch with him [Vera], a rematch with Henry Cejudo. Those are the two that I’m looking at right now… I lost to those two guys.”
Recalling the fights against Cejudo and Vera, Cruz faced Cejudo after a lengthy hiatus from competition, aiming to reclaim the bantamweight belt at UFC 249.
However, Cejudo secured a knockout victory over Cruz in the second round with a knee and follow-up punches. Cejudo later announced his retirement but returned to the cage for subsequent bouts.
Following his loss to Cejudo, Cruz faced Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera in a UFC Fight Night main event. Vera delivered a highlight-reel head kick knockout to Cruz in the fourth round, marking a significant victory in Vera’s career.
Since these fights, Vera has experienced mixed results, including wins and losses against notable opponents like Cory Sandhagen and Sean O’Malley. Meanwhile, Cruz has been focused on returning to the octagon, eager to secure rematches and turn the tables in his favor.
As Cruz sets his sights on potential rematches, fans await his return to the UFC, anticipating exciting matchups and potential redemption stories in the bantamweight division.
