The latest Diablo 4 season has garnered mixed reactions, with even Wudijo, a renowned streamer and YouTuber known for his typically positive outlook on the action RPG’s content, expressing some dissatisfaction.
“I think it’s kind of strange,” Wudijo remarked in a recent stream clip shared on YouTube. “What I’m doing here feels odd. Am I overlooking something? I’m rushing through the Vaults, disregarding all the traps and the warding buff to obtain pearls.
After five runs, I have ten pearls. Then, I proceed to Malphas. I overlook all the traps, warding and defeating Malphas, hoping for the best, and repeat. Right? And eventually, I’ll acquire Evernight and Genesis, and everything else doesn’t really matter.”
The Season of the Construct revolves around constructs, particularly a mechanical pet named the Seneschal that players can enhance with various items.
The coveted Evernight and Genesis upgrades for the Seneschal, mentioned by Wudijo, can only be obtained from the Malphas fight, making grinding Malphas the predominant endgame activity.
Since pearls are essential for battling Malphas, spending them for bonus loot in Vaults renders one of the season’s significant new mechanics meaningless.
“I think we need some hotfixes,” Wudijo suggested. “Or a new season.” While Wudijo’s comments maintain a relatively measured tone, the community interprets his critique as a significant indictment of the season, especially considering his usual positive stance on Diablo 4.
One commenter encapsulates the sentiment, stating, “You know it’s bad when Wudi, the eternal D4 optimist, is negative about the game the day after season launch.”
