Arrowhead, the developer behind Helldivers 2, has issued an apology for the ongoing server “capacity issues” and has assured players that efforts are underway to address the situation by “increasing server capacity to accommodate all.”
In response to a problem resulting in incorrect rewards distribution at the end of missions, the team pledged to provide all players with a 50 per cent XP and requisition bonus as compensation. Despite this, the concurrent Steam count for Helldivers 2 continues to rise, which appears to have put considerable strain on server stability.
Despite our best efforts to increase server capacity to accommodate all of you who want to dive for Freedom, we are experiencing capacity issues. We are once more working without delay to improve the issue and we hope to have a fix in place as soon as possible. Thank you

In a statement shared on X/Twitter over the weekend, the team acknowledged the challenges, stating, “Despite our best efforts to increase server capacity to accommodate all of you who want to dive for Freedom, we are experiencing capacity issues.” They reassured players that they are actively working to resolve the issue promptly, expressing gratitude for the community’s patience and understanding.
As of the time of this writing, there has been no further update regarding when Arrowhead anticipates server stabilization.
Helldivers 2 has emerged as PlayStation’s most significant Steam launch to date, boasting nearly 300,000 concurrent users on the PC platform over the weekend. This surpasses the previous record held by Sony Santa Monica’s God of War reboot, which peaked at 73,529 simultaneous users.
Last week, Johan Pilestedt, the creative director of Helldivers 2 and CEO of Arrowhead, emphasized the studio’s philosophy regarding monetization, stating that they believe games should “earn the right to monetize.”
He affirmed that while players are encouraged to support the title through DLC and microtransactions, there is no compulsion to do so, as Arrowhead prioritizes player choice and enjoyment above all else.
