Known for taking on Destiny’s toughest challenges, Snazzzy has previously soloed raid bosses like Nezarec from the Root of Nightmares and other encounters once thought impossible. However, this solo flawless Deep Stone Crypt run is considered by many to be his crowning achievement, as Snazzzy himself described it as the hardest solo challenge in Destiny’s entire history.
The Deep Stone Crypt raid’s final boss, Taniks, posed a significant challenge. The entire solo flawless run took Snazzzy about 400 hours in total—290 hours were spent clearing the encounters initially, and another 110 hours were dedicated to completing the flawless run without dying.
The difficulty wasn’t just in managing a six-player raid alone but also in handling the unpredictability of Taniks’ mechanics. Much of the run required not just skill but also a bit of luck to overcome.
The Eager Edge sword, which Snazzzy used to traverse the arena, was one of the more frustrating aspects of the Taniks fight, as its tracking could misfire at the worst times. Additionally, the dunking mechanic was tough to master, and Snazzzy admitted to making a few mistakes along the way.
However, during the final phase of the encounter, a key moment occurred when Taniks moved to a more manageable spot in the arena. This shift gave Snazzzy a chance to finish the run successfully, turning what seemed like an impossible task into a reality.
What drives Snazzzy to take on such extreme challenges is a combination of his personal “grind-set” to be the best and the support from his Twitch community, who cheer him on even through failures. His mom has been a major source of motivation, offering encouragement throughout the process.
On the day of the completion, she reassured him to keep going despite the difficulty, which gave him the push to finish the run. Snazzzy also expressed that his late father would be proud of his accomplishments, which fuels his determination to keep challenging himself.
The Destiny 2 community, including Bungie’s own community manager DMG, took notice of Snazzzy’s feat, reacting with awe and congratulations. Seeing the recognition from both players and Bungie developers meant a lot to Snazzzy, who was thrilled to show what could be achieved in the game.
