The upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will no longer reward players for taking intimate in-game photos of female characters. Previously, players could earn prestige points by photographing scenes categorized under “erotica,” which included images of women’s underwear or cleavage.
This feature has been removed in the remaster, though players can still earn points for capturing scenes of horror, brutality, and outtakes, categorized by the game as gory, violent, or funny moments.
Capcom, the game’s developer, has not provided an explanation for the removal of the “erotica” category, but it likely reflects changing societal standards and tastes since the original game’s release in 2006. The removal of this feature highlights how the gaming industry is evolving to be more considerate of modern sensibilities, moving away from content that may be deemed inappropriate by today’s standards.
The remastered version of Dead Rising is set to release on September 19th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with a physical release following soon after.
The remaster aims to enhance the original game, offering improved visuals, quality-of-life updates, and more, while staying true to its slapstick, action-packed roots. Players will once again take on the role of photojournalist Frank West as he navigates a zombie-infested mall in a race against time.
The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be available in two digital editions: a Standard Edition priced at £39.99 and a Digital Deluxe Edition at £49.99, which includes additional content like 17 costumes for the main character, Frank, and 17 additional tracks for the mall’s background music. The remaster aims to deliver both nostalgia and new content for fans of the original game.
