Variety has revealed the addition of four new cast members to The Last of Us Season 2 adaptation on HBO. According to Variety, Danny Ramirez, Tati Gabrielle, Ariela Barer, and Spencer Lord are the latest additions to the cast, portraying characters recognizable to players of The Last of Us Part 2 as members of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF).
Ramirez, known for his roles in Top Gun: Maverick and Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will take on the role of Manny. Described as “a loyal soldier with a sunny disposition masking old wounds and a fear of failing his comrades when they need him most.” Barer will portray Mel as “a young doctor dedicated to saving lives but facing challenges due to the harsh realities of war and tribalism.”
Adding to the ensemble, Lord, known for appearances in Riverdale and Family Law, will embody Owen. Owen is described as “a gentle soul caught in the life of a warrior, reluctant to harbor hatred for his adversaries.”
Completing the lineup, Gabrielle steps into the shoes of Nora, “a military medic grappling with the consequences of her past actions.”
Gabrielle, with prior experience in video game adaptations as Braddock in the Uncharted film, is also set to portray Jade in New Line’s Mortal Kombat 2.
These actors will join Bella Ramsey’s Ellie, Pedro Pascal’s Joel, Kaitlyn Dever’s Abby, Young Mazino’s Jesse, and Isabela Merced’s Dina in the highly anticipated second season. Catherine O’Hara from Schitt’s Creek has also been confirmed to join the cast, although details of her role remain undisclosed.
Scheduled for release in 2025, The Last of Us Season 2 will not encompass the entirety of the second game but promises an increased presence of infected compared to the first season.
The series has garnered significant acclaim, with the first season recently securing eight Emmy awards, including accolades for best picture editing, main title design, prosthetic makeup, sound editing, sound mixing, and visual effects.
