Konnan, a seasoned figure in the wrestling world, recently weighed in on whether Cody Rhodes was being overworked by WWE given his current demanding schedule.
Rhodes has undeniably emerged as one of WWE’s most prominent figures in recent years, portraying a leading heroic character.
Known as the American Nightmare, he has been consistently visible on WWE’s weekly programming, participating in TV tapings, and actively engaging in the company’s social impact initiatives.
His upcoming bout against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40 further solidifies his significant role within the organization.
During a segment on Keepin’ It 100, Konnan speculated that Cody Rhodes likely understood the rigorous schedule associated with WWE prior to joining the company.
He suggested that Rhodes, being a key face of the promotion, probably finds satisfaction in making public appearances and fulfilling promotional obligations.
“Whether you’re a rock band or you’re in MMA, you gotta do promotions. That’s part of the gig, bro. You don’t get a lot of sleep, you travel a lot, but you’re also getting paid a lot. He’s probably been up for the last couple of years with that AEW schedule. He knew what he was gonna get into, and he was willing to do it.”
Konnan acknowledged that while Rhodes might not derive the same level of enjoyment from his busy schedule after winning the championship at WrestleMania or in the future, he currently relishes the opportunity.
“He’s gonna get probably the championship at WrestleMania or in the future. He’s a top babyface. He’s loving it, bro. He’s loving it right now. Maybe in another three years, he won’t be loving it as much. But right now, this is what he’s wanted his whole fu**ing career.”
Rhodes recently made a bold statement on RAW, defeating Grayson Waller in singles competition. However, his celebrations were cut short by an interruption from Paul Heyman.
Undeterred, Rhodes defiantly declared that he was no longer the prey of The Bloodline but rather their hunter, before taking down The Wiseman’s security team as the show concluded.
The question remains: Will Cody Rhodes conclude his journey at WrestleMania?
