Activision Blizzard’s highly anticipated mobile adaptation of the battle royale phenomenon, Call of Duty: Warzone, is set for its global debut on March 21st, marking the culmination of a gradual rollout across select regions over the past year.
Developed by a consortium of studios, including Activision’s Digital Legends, Beenox, Shanghai, and Solid State, Warzone Mobile made its debut in Australia in November 2022. Following subsequent releases in various countries, Activision had initially aimed for a full global launch in the autumn of the following year.
However, plans shifted in October, with the publisher opting to postpone the release to spring 2024 in order to refine and enhance the gaming experience.
With the release date for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile now firmly established for March 21st, Activision has unveiled key details about the game. Players can expect to dive into action across two distinct maps: Verdansk, supporting intense 120-player battle royale matches, and Rebirth Island, catering to 48-player battles under the Gulag-free Resurgence ruleset.
In addition to the adrenaline-fueled battle royale mode, Warzone Mobile will feature a plethora of traditional multiplayer experiences across iconic maps such as Shipment, Shoot House, and Scrapyard. Popular modes, including Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Search & Destroy, are all set to make an appearance.
Boasting support for controllers and customizable graphics and HUD settings, Warzone Mobile offers a seamless gaming experience tailored for mobile devices. Furthermore, the game will feature cross-platform functionality, allowing players to maintain their progress, friends list, and chat channels across all versions of the game.
Progression in terms of player level, weapon level, and purchased bundles will carry over between platforms, with shared battle pass progress extending to Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Warzone on consoles and PCs.
Anticipation for Warzone Mobile is palpable, with over 50 million players already pre-registered to join the action upon its global launch on March 21st. Pre-registered players stand to receive exclusive in-game rewards, including the Ghost “Condemned” Operator Skin, M4 “Archfiend” and X12 “Prince of Hell” Weapon Blueprints, the “Foe’s Flame” Vinyl, and the “Dark Familiar” Emblem.
